Rzr working in the Snow!

We had heard that a UTV type machine does better in the snow than just an ATV. So we were excited to try it out in one of our first snow storms of the season.  As soon as the weather forecasted snow we were loaded, ready to go.

It had snowed over night in the mountains. A foot of fresh powder was on the ground.  My wife and I headed out to one of our communication towers that we maintain. Our truck started spinning out, a good sign that it was time to unload the Rzr.  The Rzr has great traction and offered a safe ride for the 5 mile journey.  We had great control and traction. We had great stability  in the snow and it easily carried our tools and supplies.  I love the tool box from Polaris, it just snaps in and out with ease. We made it a wonderful winter day, and even though it was work, it really wasn’t.

Now it is time to think about a cab and a heater to make this wonderful machine a year round work horse.  We will check those out in an upcoming article.

A great adventure for friends and family is to get our and ride your ATVs. The Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree held in Richfield, Utah is the perfect outing to go on some great rides with a large group. The ATV Jamboree hosts over 30 rides in a one week time frame. You can choose to go on a simple short ride or a four day ride involving camping. We went on the Oak Belt ride which was a one day ride lasting about 6 hours and riding 55 miles. A great adventure for advanced riders.

One of the exciting things at the ATV and UTV Jamboree’s is to look at all the machines people are riding.  I look at the brand of machines, the age of the machine, the size and one really fun thing to look for are the modifications people do to their machine.  Whether it is an accessories add on, or something unique that they have found, created or invented for their machine.

In this series of articles we will highlight a whole bunch of mods that we have found in the recent Jamboree’s.  Some you can just get at Checker, Napa, Walmart or online.  They are the easy mods. Some will be in detail, and will require a little more work.  For example:  adding a heater to your RZR, or modifying the faulty air filter system on the RZR.  One of my favorites is the doors for the Razor made by a local man.  They look so amazing, and actually work at stopping some of the dust coming in the sides.
